About Dr Ng

I grew up in Singapore, trained across the UK, EU, Asia and US, and came home to build a practice grounded in everything that international experience taught me about anatomy, about restraint, and about what patients actually need from a surgeon.

My practice focuses on rhinoplasty and facial aesthetic surgery, alongside selected breast, body, reconstructive and hand procedures. I was awarded the ISAPS Bronze Medal for Rhinoplasty at the 2025 World Congress held here in Singapore, an international competitive award in oral presentation for my work on closed preservation rhinoplasty technique. I also received the Best Abstract Award at the London Rhinoplasty Course in 2024 for the same body of work.

I hold FRCS (Plast), FEBOPRAS and FEBHS, and am accredited as a specialist in Plastic Surgery by both the GMC in the UK and the MOH in Singapore. My higher specialist training was through the Oxford Deanery, comprising of rotations in Portsmouth, Salisbury and Oxford. My research fellowship was at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where I worked on immunological tolerance in reconstructive transplantation surgery. This body of academic work culminated with a PhD from the University of Glasgow. During my time in the UK, I was also a trainer in aesthetic medicine on Harley Street in London, and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Aesthetic Injectable Therapies. I have also completed further clinical fellowships in Paris, Hong Kong and Switzerland.

Why Plastic Surgery

I nearly didn't make it here. Medical school was uninspiring with algorithms, protocols,  and memorisation. The kind of medicine where every problem had a predetermined answer and the job was simply to reach it. I also had a scholarship, a clear path, every reason to stay, but I was seriously considering leaving.

What changed was a chance encounter with a mentor, and a single morning in his operating theatre. On the table was a patient whose entire nose had been lost to cancer. The reconstruction involved a titanium screw fixing ribs to the skull, a flap of tissue moved from a distant site, and a problem that no textbook had a clean answer for. It had to be thought through, built and judged, in real time, with real consequences.

That was the moment I decided on plastic surgery. Not a specialty of vanity, but one of problem-solving at its most demanding, where anatomy, engineering, biology, and aesthetic judgement converge, and where there is no predetermined answer. Freestyle.

That instinct to treat every case as its own problem, never a template, is what shapes how I practise today. Whether the patient has lost a nose to cancer, sustained a complex facial injury, or wants a rhinoplasty that looks quietly natural, my approach is the same - bespoke, every time, for form, function, and finesse.

My Approach to Cosmetic Surgery

Dr Ng Zhi Yang during plastic surgery training

From the first consultation, my goal is to ensure that each person feels listened to, understood and well-informed. I believe that trust is built not through promises, but through clarity, consistency and attention to detail.

I do not believe in “signature” procedures. Every well-trained plastic surgeon should be competent across the full spectrum of aesthetic surgery. What sets outcomes apart is not a proprietary method, but a deep understanding of anatomy, patient selection and meticulous execution. My focus is therefore on precision and planning, rather than marketing procedures under new names.

Every person's anatomy, goals and healing process are unique. The best way to understand what's achievable for you is through a personal consultation, where I can assess your specific anatomy and give you an honest picture of what surgery can and cannot achieve. My approach blends international surgical precision with an understanding of diverse aesthetic ideals. Learn more here.

Awards

Selected Recognition

My work in rhinoplasty has been recognised internationally. At the 2025 ISAPS Olympiad World Congress in Singapore, I was awarded the Bronze Medal in Rhinoplasty for my presentation on closed preservation tip reshaping, competing against surgeons from across the world in my home city. The same technique received the Best Abstract Award at the London Rhinoplasty Course in November 2024.

In April 2024, I also received the Face, Eyes & Nose Prize from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons for contributions to training in cosmetic surgery. This was followed by serving as faculty at the SEASON Aesthetic Conference in Singapore in November 2025. In early 2026, I was shortlisted for the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT) Silver Suture Award, which recognises surgical registrars who go above and beyond in nurturing the next generation of surgeons, as nominated by their own trainees following a national selection process in the UK.

Earlier recognition includes awards from the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (IFSSH), British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH), American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), International Society of Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation (ISVCA), International Society for Experimental Microsurgery (ISEM), and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG), reflecting academic achievements spanning aesthetic, hand and reconstructive microsurgery internationally.

Doctor Stitch

I founded Doctor Stitch in Singapore to provide a streamlined, direct-access pathway for minor outpatient surgical procedures and acute wound care. Operating as a dedicated sub-practice, it handles acute, non-life-threatening conditions under local anesthesia without the need for hospital admission.

Through Doctor Stitch, I manage:

  • Acute Wound Care - Immediate treatment for deep cuts, lacerations, hand injuries, and minor burns.

  • Minor Outpatient Procedures - Same-day removal of suspicious skin lesions (to rule out skin cancer), lumps and bumps (cysts and lipomas), and atypical mole screenings

  • Cosmetic Surgery Aftercare - Precision post-operative suture removal and early scar optimization for patients who have undergone aesthetic procedures locally or abroad.

Clinical Continuity & Upgrades:
While Doctor Stitch serves as a cost-effective net for rapid, ambulatory cases, it directly informs my major reconstructive work. Stable patients who present to Doctor Stitch requiring advanced structural revisions, complex skin cancer removals, or major aesthetic restorations are seamlessly transitioned to my primary flagship practice here at ZNG Plastic Surgery.

Innovation & 3D Printing

For selected cases, 3D printing tools are used to support pre-operative surgical planning and analysis for operative preparation. This allows for more detailed anatomical assessment and thoughtful procedural planning, particularly in complex or revision cases.

I have also utilised 3D printing technology for microsurgical training and post-operative rehabilitation, particularly following hand surgery.

Aesthetic Mentorship

I offer selective, one-to-one mentorship for doctors seeking to refine their anatomical understanding, aesthetic judgement, and procedural precision in non-surgical facial aesthetic treatments

This is designed for doctors who value restraint, structure and long-term tissue integrity over trend-driven approaches.
