Welcome!
Eyelid surgery refines balance, reduces hooding and under-eye bags, and addresses functional concerns by respecting individual anatomy rather than following trends.
My Approach
Eyelid surgery addresses more than just crease creation as every eye has its unique anatomy. The goal is to restore balance, rejuvenate appearance, or correct functional issues, not simply chasing cosmetic trends.
I approach each case with an anatomy-first mindset. Subtle differences in skin quality, fat distribution, muscle function and soft tissue elasticity guide the surgical plan. By respecting these nuances, I aim to achieve eyes that look natural, expressive, and age gracefully so that they do not look “operated-on.”
Planning & Technique
Depending on your needs and goals, I select the most appropriate technique. I am always guided by preserving natural dynamics and achieving structural harmony.
Options may include:
- Upper lid blepharoplasty (with or without fat and muscle resection) for skin redundancy or heavy lids, or for Asian double lid
- Lower lid blepharoplasty for under-eye bags due to fat pad protrusion (where indicated); both internal (transconjunctival) and external (subciliary) approaches with additional lateral canthopexy for extra support as necessary
- Conservative fat repositioning or removal (only when necessary) with careful attention to volume balance
- Ptosis evaluation and correction (especially if levator function is compromised or asymmetry is present)
- Sub-brow lift to address lateral hooding, especially in patients with tattooed eyebrows and a pre-existing upper lid crease
- Direct brow lift to reposition a drooping brow due to compensated frontalis action
- Customised crease / lid fold planning based on your anatomy, age, skin quality and facial proportions, in keeping with your aesthetic goals and ethnic features
Each plan is tailored. There is no one-size-fits-all crease. Instead, the aim is a refined, balanced eyelid contour suited to you.
Recovery & Expectations
Many patients return to light activity within several days. Mild swelling and bruising are expected, typically settling within a week. Sutures (if used) are removed around day 5 to 7. Final results become more apparent over several weeks as swelling subsides, with a soft, natural lid contour and final, refreshed eye appearance.
What Eyelid Surgery Can & Cannot Do - Transparent Expectations
Can:
- Reduce upper-lid hooding or heaviness
- Remove excess skin and soft tissue that contributes to a tired, aged appearance
- Improve symmetry, crease definition, and visual clarity (in cases of functional droop/ptosis)
- Refresh and rejuvenate the eye region with subtle, natural-looking results
Cannot:
- Fundamentally change your ethnic features or create a dramatically Westernized “look”
- Guarantee a perfectly symmetrical crease because small asymmetries may still remain despite our best efforts, and no two eyes are ever the same
- Eliminate all signs of ageing because eyelid surgery can improve the eye region, but does NOT stop the aging process
Complementary Procedures
Eyelid surgery can be combined with other procedures for broader facial harmony, depending on your aesthetic goals.
Common complementary options include:
- Periorbital fat grafting or fat transfer to restore volume and reduce hollowing under the eyes
- Face and neck lifting and/or rhinoplasty for comprehensive full face rejuvenation
- Brow lift / forehead lift when one's brow position or forehead laxity contributes to lid hooding or heaviness
If desired, we will discuss whether combining procedures is appropriate for achieving your overall aesthetic goals, while keeping recovery and risk in check.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Will eyelid surgery make my eyes look “operated on”?
Eyelid surgery should respect anatomical balance and skin quality. The aim is refinement and harmony, not dramatic change, so results tend to look natural rather than “done.”
2. How long does recovery take after eyelid surgery?
Most patients return to light activity within several days, and swelling/bruising typically subsides over the first week. Final contour emerges as swelling resolves over several weeks.
3. Are scars visible after blepharoplasty?
Incisions are placed within natural eyelid folds where possible, and scars usually mature to fine lines that are subtle and well-hidden.
4. Can both functional and cosmetic concerns be addressed?
Yes, in addition to aesthetic refinement, eyelid surgery can address functional issues such as heavy upper lids or mild ptosis when indicated.
